Portraits of Disquiet was born as an idea out of pure desperation to expose the parts of me that I’ve kept hidden for years. It’s less a self reflection and more of a confession. For the past 6 months that I’ve been working on it, it’s been surprisingly difficult to work on even though I know exactly what needs to be said. The film is close to completion now and for some reason I refuse to put the final touches on it. Perhaps it’s out of fear or something else that I’m unaware of. I have a strong desire now to destroy it and never release it. There’s an agonizing presence that was unintentionally embedded in the film that I don’t think would do the world any favor. But there’s also a part of me that needs to let it live somewhere other than in my own head. The contemplation is too confusing at this time. It’s nearly done now and I’m not sure I want to finish it. Still, I must admit, it’s beautifully surreal and everything I dream of.
